Here at James McGregor's we support the FORESTS FOREVER campaign.  This is an organisation set up by Britain's timber industry to help safeguard the world's forests.  Forests Forever support progress towards environmentally  and socially sound forest management.

All the timber we buy and supply is from professionally managed forests and as far as possible from forests with a 2 for 1 replanting scheme.

As part of our environmentally friendly approach to business we don't deal with any of the timber listed on the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species.  If customers need any of these timbers we do our best to  recommend the next best alternative.

Wood itself is an eco-friendly product.  It is a renewable resource as well as being organic, non-toxic, recyclable and biodegradable.

Further to the above, using wood in construction requires less energy than    materials such as steel or aluminium.  This results in a smaller amount of    Carbon Dioxide in the environment which in turn means there will be less acid rain damaging our planet.

Wood has other advantages over materials such as metals or PVC.  Aesthetic  appeal for one; what man made material could possibly equal the richness and texture of a piece of wood?  Then there are practical reasons.  Few metals could compete with the strength to weight ratio that wood has.  It will also withstand harsh corrosive atmospheres.  For thermal insulation wood is superior to both aluminium and PVC.  In fact, properly treated wood can last indefinitely.
